12-8-24 Rosary Mystery Meditations for Today (Sunday)

“All these elements come together in our joy that God became a Child who encourages us to trust as children trust, to give ourselves, and to let ourselves receive. It is perhaps quite difficult for us to accept this joy when we are troubled by questions and when physical illness and spiritual problems attack us and make us rebel against the God we cannot understand. But this Child is a sign of hope, and that sign is made on those who are in any way distressed.”  –Pope Benedict XVI (+ 2022)

Intention:  I can do all things through Christ, Who strengthens me.

Sunday: Deliver Me
1st Glorious Mystery: The Resurrection
Scripture:
After the sabbath, as the first day of the week was dawning,
Mary Magdalene and the other Mary came to see the tomb.
—Matthew 28:1
Reflection:
Jesus empowers us as His followers; He gives us victory over sin
and death through His passion and resurrection.
Prayer:
Dear Jesus, please deliver me from evil and sin, and reawaken
in me Your love, joy and peace. Amen.

Sunday: Bolder Trust
2nd Glorious Mystery: The Ascension
Scripture:
[Jesus] said to them [the eleven], “Go into the whole world
and proclaim the gospel to every creature. Whoever believes
and is baptized will be saved; whoever does not believe will be
condemned.”
—Mark 16:15–16
Reflection:
After the resurrection, Jesus gave the apostles the joy of
experiencing His presence for forty days in His glorified body.
After the ascension, we remain in union with Him through the
wonderful gift of the Holy Eucharist.
Prayer:
Dear Mary, Gate of Heaven, please pray for me to have a bolder
trust and hope in Jesus. Amen.

Sunday: Pure Love
3rd Glorious Mystery: The Descent of the
Holy Spirit on Our Lady and the Apostles
Scripture:
I know well the plans I have in mind for you, says the Lord,
plans for your welfare, not for woe! plans to give you a future
full of hope. When you call me, when you go to pray to me, I
will listen to you.
—Jeremiah 29:11–12
Reflection:
When the Consoler makes His home inside of us, He gives us
His strength, heals us and guides us. Everything becomes better.
Prayer:
Holy Spirit, please increase within me Your pure love. May
all those suffering from depression experience Your love and
peace. Amen.

Sunday: Immaculate Heart
4th Glorious Mystery: The Assumption
Scripture:
The Lord is my strength and my shield,/ in whom my heart
trusted and found help./ So my heart rejoices;/ with my song
I praise my God.
—Psalm 28:7
Reflection:
In heaven, Mary is always praying to God for us, her children,
to be strong and shielded from all harm.
Prayer:
Dear Mary, I give your Immaculate Heart my sincere devotion.
Please pray for my fears to be calmed, for my concerns in life to
be taken care of, and through your intercession help me attain
the gift of heaven. Amen.

Sunday: Confidence
5th Glorious Mystery: The Coronation of our
Blessed Mother as Queen of Heaven and Earth
Scripture:
Every athlete exercises discipline in every way. They do it to
win a perishable crown, but we an imperishable one.
—1 Corinthians 9:25
Reflection:
Our Blessed Mother is in heaven, but she is also a Queen, and
so when we pray the Rosary, we should have confidence that
what we are praying for will come to us in God’s timing, if it
is God’s will.
Prayer:
Dear Mary, Queen Raised Up to Glory, please pray for harmony
among the nations and peoples of the world. Amen.
